Sarah Palin is an accomplished debater. Not that she’ll know every fact and figure on every issue. We can see that she doesn’t know much on that regard, although I’m sure she’s cramming away. Instead, she uses her disarming charm to win her points. But that’s not necessarily going to be enough for her. She has to look, like Obama had to in the first debate, presidential. And that means she will have to look like she can hold her own onstage with Biden. But don’t underestimate the charm offensive – she used that to get elected to the governor’s office in Alaska against much more seasoned politicians than herself.
For Biden, he has to be funny and charming, too, even more so than normal, because everyone knows that he’s well-versed in policy issues, especially foreign policy. He has largely already passed the “does he look presidential” test, so that’s not as much an issue for him. But he has to figure out how to oppose Palin without appearing mean or overbearing. But he also needs to be careful, because she’s going to use her charm to stick the knife in if she can.

Expectations for her as so low..that all she has to do is show up to hold up against Biden
@TONETHBONE yes, they are low, which is part of why blogs like mine and others are trying to boost them up some. Have you seen the AK governor debates? She’s pretty good in them.
You would think by this point we would have had enough smoke blown up our bums that just being charming and disarming questions without answering them would backfire, but I guess thats politics.
@Nathanuel82 Politics have always been about not answering questions… it’s the American way!
As sad as it sounds this is true. Nothing more than popularity contests with the fate of America in the balance. Isn’t it grand?!
