The Alaska Legislature released its report from its independent investigator and concluded that Sarah Palin did indeed abuse her power in her attempts to have State Trooper Michael Wooten fired, and that she fired her Public Safety Commissioner at least in part because of this.

John McCain knew about this investigation when he chose Sarah Palin to be his running mate, as it had been ongoing since July, weeks before he picked her.  This shows his bad judgment and that a McCain administration would be corrupt and self-serving.  How exactly would this be different than the Bush adminstration has been?  No one seems to be able to answer that question.

The Anchorage Daily News reported that the Judge in the lawsuit brought about by 5 Republican members of the Alaska Legislature ruled that the Legislature may continue its investigation into whether Governor Palin improperly used her authority in a personal vendetta against her former brother-in-law.

Barring a last minute appeal to the Alaska Supreme Court, the subpoenaed state employees and Todd Palin will have to testify about their roles in the scandal.

I wonder if Todd Palin knows that he has legions of adoring gay men as fans?  I am not one of them, but just the same, it’ll be great to embarrass the heck outta him, darn it!

Mudflats is reporting on the Hold Palin Accountable rally in Anchorage Saturday, with even more participants than the last big one of two weeks ago.

At first, Talis Colberg, the Alaska Attorney General, was recusing himself from anything having to do with the Troopergate scandal because he is a subject of the investigation.  His assistant was going to handle it, but now we learn that Colberg will get directly involved with the case after all.  This is a clear conflict of interest, and Colberg needs to stay recused from the case.

Here we go again with more corrupt cronies of Sarah Palin.  From personal vendettas to censorship to mismanaging governance to a mangled family life (oh, wait, that’s personal vendettas), Sarah Palin only goes to show her self to be the venal, corrupt, lying incompetent handpuppet for the neo-conservatives and the extreme fundamentalists.

The BBC reported that Sarah Palin will be “unlikely to co-operate” with the Alaskan Legislature’s investigation into whether she improperly used her office to carry out a personal vendetta against her former brother-in-law.

McCain campaign spokesman Mr O’Callaghan said he did not know if Mr Palin would challenge the subpoena, issued on Friday, requiring his cooperation.

However, Mrs Palin was “unlikely to co-operate” with the inquiry “so long as it remains tainted and run by partisan individuals that have a pre-determined conclusion”, the AFP news agency quotes him as saying.

Mrs Palin has not been ordered to testify but Mr Branchflower has said he hopes to speak to her about Mr Monegan’s dismissal.

Of course, the investigation began before Palin was tapped to be John Sidney McCain, III’s running mate, and the request for subpoenas was passed by a bipartisan committee, with one Republican joining the two Democratic Party members in agreeing to forward the subpoenas on to the full legislature, so to call it partisan is a bit misleading.  But we’ve come to expect that from the Bush/McCain political machine.

Sarah Palin lacks integrity and honesty.  And if she does, what does that say about the judgment of the man who chose her to be his running mate, John McCain?

If you believe in her honesty, then have I got a bridge to nowhere to sell you.

Here’s another controversy that demonstrates just how venal and corrupt Sarah Palin is.

The governor first denied any involvement, then later released a telephone recording of one of her staffers trying to influence another government official to have her former brother-in-law removed from duty. The Alaska Legislature is investigating the scandal, and says it will have a report by the middle of September.
