According to the Anchorage Daily News, the unemployment rate in Alaska rose to 6.9% in July, up from 6.7% in June, and 6.2% from July 2007. In the Mat-Su region, which contains Wasilla, the unemployment rate is 7.3%.
So even though job growth is rising by 1.3%, more people are still looking for work, or have dropped out of the workforce altogether.
Way to go, Palin.
At the same time, the overall US jobless rate rose from 5.7% in July to 6.1% in August.
To quote James Carville, “It’s the economy, stupid.” John Sidney McCain, III, has no idea how to get us out of the mess we’re in. Republicans never do, and the Democratic Party always has to clean up the mess the Republicans have left behind.
Do not be distracted by the Palin Circus. Focus on the issues. Remember, the Democratic Party almost invariably leads to higher incomes for the American people. If we keep going the way of the Bush-McCain policies, we will ruin the nation financially in a way that will spell the end of the United States. The American Dream will become a fondly remembered one as we will all be working for minimum wage. Would you like fries with that?
